Products
We believe the Planet and the Natural World are our most important stakeholders, that’s why we’re leading the green chemical revolution through defossilisation.
The green chemicals
The green chemicals we make are bioacetone, biobutanol and bioethanol which directly displace chemicals made from petrochemical processes (Acetone, Butanol and Ethanol). Decarbonisation is not an option for the chemical industry, which is based on the use of carbon. Without carbon, the industry cannot exist. Our strategy is defossilisation, and the re-use of “above-the-ground” carbon.
Global market value
The combined global market value for fossil-fuel derived Acetone, Butanol and Ethanol is forecast to be $165billion by 2030. Our addressable markets for bioacetone and biobutanol, the specialty end of the ABE market, are currently estimated at over $3.5bn combined. Our biorefinery in Grangemouth is optimising production towards the plant’s capacity of 1,000 tonnes per annum. Further full-scale biorefineries are planned with typical production capacities of 8,000 tonnes. Existing customer demand is 30,000 tonnes per annum and growing.
Bioacetone, biobutanol & bioethanol
Our bioacetone, biobutanol and bioethanol produce up to 65% less carbon emissions than their fossil-based counterparts. This results in a lower carbon footprint for the everyday products that typically use our green chemicals in their manufacturing process. Our model is scalable globally, and as we continue to improve performance and efficiency, we expect to achieve further greenhouse gas reductions.
Industry sectors with potential to use bioacetone, biobutanol and bioethanol:
- Personal Care
- Cosmetics
- DIY
- Pharmaceuticals
- Household cleaning
About Us
We’re leading the green chemical revolution
We’re helping to drive the transition to a Net Zero, Nature Positive World through defossilisation. A world where sustainable, biologically derived green chemicals, produced in harmony with planet earth replace our dependence on fossil-fuel equivalents.
