Celtic Renewables are excited to be recruiting for a Production Manager who will play an integral part in the successful and future operation of the plant.

Job Summary

The Production Manager will play a critical role in the successful operation of the manufacturing plant, ensuring continuous production of bio-derived green chemicals through safe and efficient processes. This position requires a dynamic leader who can effectively manage a team of 13 Process Operators to meet the Safety and Delivery KPI’s, drive plant improvements, and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental standards. The Production Manager will also deputise for the Head of Manufacturing and the Supply Chain when required, ensuring seamless operations across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure the plant adheres to all environmental standards, including SEPA requirements.
    • Lead the Control of Work process, including the Permit to work, safe isolation of plant systems and working closely with maintenance teams.
    • Work to maintain and elevate health and safety standards on site.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of any near misses or incidents.
  2. Leadership & Management:
    • Act as the Line Manager for 13 Process Operators.
    • Oversee performance management, objective setting, regular one-to-one meetings, skill development, and on-the-job training for all team members.
    • Contribute to the development, and Lead the implementation of the production strategy to meet the company strategic goals.
    • Deputise for the Head of Manufacturing during their absence, ensuring continued Operational Excellence.
    • Deputise for the Supply Chain when needed, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of materials.
  3. Production Management:
    • Set and manage the production plan for the manufacturing of bio-derived green chemicals, including overseeing the processes of fermentation and distillation.
    • Own the Daily Operational Review meeting and take action to address situational problems and escalate issues for support.
    • Ensure production activities adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  4. Operational Excellence:
    • Take a data driven approach to identify improvement opportunities.
    • Monitor site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and address any corrective actions promptly.
    • Lead problem-solving efforts on a daily basis to resolve operational challenges.
    • Collaborate closely with the overall Manufacturing team to drive continuous improvements within the plant.
    • Implement process enhancements to optimise efficiency in Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.
    • Ensure daily structured monitoring and plant housekeeping is completed (5S)
  5. Documentation & SOPs:
    • Author Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments, ensuring they are comprehensive, up-to-date, and followed without deviation.
  6. On-Call Leadership:
    • Serve as the On-Call Leader, ensuring swift response and resolution to any issues that arise outside regular working hours.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing role, preferably within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team and driving performance.
  • Experience in Operational Excellence with a Six Sigma qualification (Green Belt or above) is preferable.
  • knowledge of process control systems, especially PCS7 SCADA is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, environmental compliance, and regulatory standards, including SEPA.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities (Root Cause Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, 6 Sigma) and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
